Kampala is home to hundreds of coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and hybrid joints where you can have it all under one roof but now there’s something new and different.

Nestled behind a purple wall on Luthuli Avenue, in Bugolobi, Dancing Cup is the first child-friendly café restaurant that lives up to its creators’ tout; it has play areas for a range of ages – a toddler-safe room with soft cladding and toys, and an outdoor sand pit with low climbing frames for the more mobile age group.  Both areas are clear view spaces so parents can keep an eye on the kids at play.

And while the kids play, adults can eat delicious food or simply sip on a cup of coffee created specifically for Dancing Cup – they have a barista, don’t you know!

Portion sizes depend on your order with choices ranging from finger licking snacks to gastronomic fillers (the Beef Bourguignon, a regular on the Specials menu, is melt-in-your-mouth stuff!) These dishes are straddled by mid range taste teasing options including the Creative Crostini; a delicious, colourful, healthy options platter of crisp and fancy salads with either chicken, ham or roasted vegetables; or the lemon chicken and basil risotto with beetroot, rocket salad and garlic bread.  And if you like a bit of spice with your meal, the kitchen has created a home-made range of olive oil based chilly drizzles oozing with flavour.

The staff is friendly, attentive and happy to help with recommendations or special requests. The service is very good and turnaround time from order to plate-on-table is superb and certainly debunks the myth that good food entails a lengthy wait.

Dancing Cup’s ambiance is relaxed, uninterrupted by the behind the scenes efficiency, the main dining area is an airy, roofed wooden deck where parties of all sizes can be accommodated.

Although Dancing Cup is conducive to familial and social gatherings, it is an excellent place to entertain business meetings – it has a stable, security protected, high-speed Internet link for online collaboration and many strategically positioned power points to charge mobile phones, laptops and other business essential devices.

Dancing Cup is open Tuesday through Friday from 7.30am to 6.30 pm, Saturdays from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm and Sundays from 9.00 Am to 5.00 pm
